Why only rekeys and smart locks
Most residential locksmith calls come down to one of two things: someone needs new keys for existing locks, or someone wants a smart lock that works. Those two jobs reward repetition. Doing them all day means we carry the right pins, the right cylinders and the right adapters, we know which doors fight which locks, and we finish faster than a generalist.
It also means you get a locksmith who has already solved your exact problem many times, with the parts on the truck to finish in one visit. If you need something outside rekeys and smart locks, ask and we will tell you straight whether it is a job for us.
How we work
-
Straight diagnosis
We look at the door and tell you what it needs: rekey, replace, or fix the alignment. No upsell.
-
One price, in writing
You get the total by text before we come out. It does not change at the door.
-
Done right, once
Fresh pins, correctly cut keys, doors that close and lock without slamming.
-
You test everything
Every key, every code, every door, before we pack up.
Licensing and trust
Rekey Republic is licensed and insured. Locksmith companies in California must be licensed by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), and employees must hold a locksmith employee registration. You can verify a locksmith license on the BSIS lookup at the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Both the company license and every employee registration require a fingerprint-based criminal history check through the California Department of Justice and the FBI before they are issued.
We carry photo ID and our BSIS credentials, and give you the price before the work, not after.
Meet the locksmith
Niv, owner & lead locksmith. Niv is a San Diego locksmith who built Rekey Republic around the two jobs he likes most and does best: rekeying locks and installing smart locks that simply work when you get home.
He cares about the details most people never see. A key that turns smoothly on the first try. A deadbolt that throws all the way without leaning on the door. A keypad code that works at night, with groceries in your hands. If it is not right, he is not done.
He would rather explain your options in plain English and let you choose than sell you hardware you do not need. Often that means a rekey instead of new locks, and he will tell you so.
